DegrowUS is hosting a series of free public webinars on different aspects of degrowth organizing, practice and action in the US. These webinars will bring in degrowth organizers and strategists to discuss the practical aspects of enacting degrowth visions and applying degrowth ideas.
Over the coming year, there will be three sets of webinars, each with a different focus:
Fall 2026/Winter 2027: The Movement Beyond “Degrowth”
Winter/Spring 2027: Putting Degrowth Ideas into Action
Spring/Summer 2027: Degrowth Community Organizing
This series will kick off with the webinar “Historical Roots & Current State of the US Degrowth Movement” on Saturday, October 17th, featuring Jason Barahona Rosales and Anna Prouty of Degrowth Institute.

More information on upcoming events will be available on this page as further webinars are planned and scheduled!
The Movement Beyond “Degrowth”
How have social movements throughout US history challenged growth, and what is the US degrowth movement doing today? How is degrowth action already happening under other names, and where are the opportunities to bring degrowth ideas into more established movements?
The first set of webinars will look broadly at degrowth action already happening both within and beyond the "degrowth" label.
The first webinar of this series will be “Historical Roots & Current State of the US Degrowth Movement” on October 17th!
Putting Degrowth Ideas into Action
How is degrowth being operationalized today? What does it look like to develop policy, business practices, urban planning or financial institutions rooted in degrowth principles?
The second set of webinars will look at how degrowth practitioners are bringing degrowth ideas to life in specific action areas, and theorizing what more can be done.
Degrowth Community Organizing
How do you start a degrowth organization? How have existing degrowth organizing groups formed, structured themselves, and decided on their core projects?
The third set of webinars will bring in current degrowth organizers to discuss their movement practices, successes, strategies, skills and structures to offer a practical how-to for those interested in forming new degrowth organizing groups.
