Degrowth Policy Working Group

Launched in September 2025, the Degrowth Policy Working Group (DWPG) is a weekly meeting of degrowth organizers interested in researching and advocating for degrowth-aligned policies in the US. DPWG originally launched as a project of our partners at Degrowth Institute following DeSchool 2025, but will be officially joining us as a program of DegrowUS at the end of 2026.

In March 2026, DPWG released its first publication, “Degrowth Policy Ideas in the US Context,” a document exploring a list of practical interventions to support degrowth goals in the United States. DPWG is currently rewriting that document for a Version 2.0 release in December 2026.

DPWG is also releasing its second document, a Degrowth Policy Design Toolkit for Local Policymakers, in December 2026.

DPWG meetings will be held weekly on Fridays at 9:00AM PST on Zoom for the rest of the year (except holidays). If you are interested in attending these meetings, please email anna@degrowthinstitute.org.

The working group is open to all! No prior policy experience required.
